“Two artists have been playing pretty games with the UK Royal Mail’s automated sorting offices.
It seems the machines simply read the colour of stamps to check whether the correct postage has been used, so maybe it doesn’t matter what shape they are.
Kim Rugg creates tentacled monsters, fireworks and beach scenes using only postage stamp fragments, while ShakesMyTeeth sends vintage postcard collages worldwide.” (Thanks to Neatorama for the blurb!) — A.M.

This short film features about 2500 corporate logos twining throughout several plot lines. Last night it won the Academy Award for Short Film (Animated).
Said the winner, “Good evening. It doesn’t look like, but it’s a French film. Sorry about the accent. I’m the producer of the film, so I have to thank the 3,000 non-official sponsors that appear in the film. And I have to assure them that no logos were harmed in the making of the project.” — A.M.
Procrastination

That’s the title of a graduation film created by Johnny Kelly and Bryan Quinn, Royal College of Art. Your devoted blogger would never suggest that SEGDsters are procrastinators. No, in fact, she’s spent untold hours of time looking for her favorite pen, hunting down colleagues, bosses, and UPS men – all in the interest of getting that work done. — A.M.

Leggo my Big Mac!

“The infamous big Big Mac from McDonalds was recreated by japanese lego artist Sachiko.
The designs were made to scale using only the standard lego bricks. The design features the hamburger itself, complete with melting cheese and sesame seed bun. The burger is then accompanied by a pack of french fries and a pop. The pop is capped with a transparent lid and a multi-coloured straw. The only thing this meal doesn’t manage to recreate is the taste of a big mac.” — A.M.

Since so many SEGDsters are trapped under giant drifts of snow, what better way to pass the time than looking at designs inspired by cacti? — A.M.

“The classic tradition of Dutch Delft craftsmanship hits the streets of New York City. Presenting the ‘New York Delft’ Porcelain dinnerware collection. Each place setting is made of fine porcelain and has five pieces; a dinner plate, side plate, soup bowl, cup and saucer.” The cup sports a hot dog cart and a trash truck graces the side plate. It’s worth watching the video just to see the genteel lady ask about the style of graffiti. — A.M.
